Rourkela: A major tragedy was averted when security forces unearthed and defused 22 powerful landmines in a forest along Odisha - Jharkhand border on Monday.
The explosives were recovered during a joint combing operation launched by Jharkhand police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Goilkera forest along Odisha - Jharkhand border.
According to reports, the landmines were planted by the ultras targeting the security forces. After detecting the explosives, the security personnel immediately defused them.
As per the information provided by Jharkhand police, search operations were intensified in the LWE-hit area after the recovery of the explosives.
