Puri: Police have made elaborate security arrangements in Puri, especially near the Srimandir, to ensure smooth darshan of the holy trinity during ‘Panchuka’ and ‘Kartik Purnima’.

According to sources, 15 platoons of police force have been deployed in and around the 12th century shrine.

Puri Superintendent of Police Sarthak Sarangi informed that apart from police personnel, members of NGOs based in Puri and Bhubaneswar will assist police in crowd management.

"We have divided security arrangements into two parts. For Panchuka, special arrangement have been made; on the day of Kartik Purnima, as many as 40 platoons of police force will be deployed near Srimandir and Puri sea beach. We will take help of NGOs from Puri and Bhubaneswar for crowd management and ensure cleanliness," Sarangi said.

Besides, life guards and police will be deployed near the sea beach to keep a close eye on the visitors to avoid any mishap, Sarangi added.

While Panchuka will begin from November 19, Kartik Purnima will be celebrated on November 23.
