Bhubaneswar: The entire country will celebrate the 70th Republic Day tomorrow. While elaborate arrangements have been made for R-day celebrations which will be observed with patriotic fervour across Odisha, security has also been beefed up from the Twin City to remote Malkangiri.
Around 30 platoons of police force will be deployed for the State-level Republic Day parade at Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar. As many as 130 senior police officers will supervise all the security arrangements and other preparations, informed sources. Odisha Governor will take salute of the parade in Bhubaneswar while Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will unfurl the tricolour at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack tomorrow.
“Patrolling will be intensified across the twin cities and quick action teams have also been put on alert,” said DGP RP Sharma.
Cuttack DCP Ahikleswar Singh informed that as Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will be attending the Republic Day celebrations in the city, elaborate security arrangements have been made. Nearly 15 platoons of police force will be deployed while checking in various hotels and lodgings are being conducted.
Special security arrangements have been made for the Republic Day celebrations in naxal-infested districts as the red-rebels have given call for observance of ‘black day’ tomorrow. All the entry and exit points in several parts of Kandhamal, Malkangiri, and Nabarangpur have been sealed while vehicles are being thoroughly checked in other parts.
Meanwhile, Maoist posters were found in several places in Kurtamgarh area of Kandhamal district today opposing the policies of Central Government and alleged violence of security personnel against the tribal communities. Posters were also put up by Maoists at several places in Bolangir and Malkangiri districts yesterday ahead of their Bharat bandh call from today till January 31.
“We are alert and adequate security arrangements have been made in the district,” said Kandhamal SP Pratik Singh.
