Security beefed up at Khurda court amid lawyers' protest

Bhubaneswar: Tension prevailed at Khurda Civil and Criminal Court today after members of the district bar association locked up main gate of the campus protesting non-fulfilment of their demands.

The lawyers have been staging protest near the court since last four days demanding fulfilment of their five- point charter of demands. Infuriated over indifference to their demands by the authorities, the agitating lawyers today intensified their protests and locked up the court gate thereby  affecting the court proceedings, informed sources.

Three platoons of police force were deployed at the court premises to clear the crowd and prevent any untoward incidents. Later, the cops broke open the lock on the main gate and escorted the judge into the court.
