Puri: Secret 'Anabasara' rituals of Lord Jagannnath and his siblings began today and will continue for 15 days. After the grand bath on 'Debasnana Purnima' yesterday, the deities have fallen sick and will be in the Anasara Ghara or secret hideout to recover from their illness.

As per practice during this period devotees visiting the 12th century shrine, worship 'Pati Diyan' instead of Lord Jagannath and his siblings. Servitors too will offer pujas to Lord Narayana, Ananta Basudeba and Bhubaneswari.

Devotees have already started making beelines to Alarnath temple in Brahmagiri of Puri district as the darshan for common visitors remain restricted during the Anabasara ritual of the deities.

The deities will come out of the Anasar Ghar for Nabajouban Darshan, a day before Rath Yatra.

The divine bath of Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath on the Snana Mandap concluded yesterday. As per the rituals, the holy Trinity was accorded a bath in 108 pitchers of aromatic water by the Pujapanda servitors. The water was drawn by Garabadu servitors from a well called ‘Sunakua’ situated inside the temple premises.
