Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to resume physical classes for Class 9 and 11 students in the State from next week, informed sources.

As per reports, classes for the class 9 and 11 students will begin from February 8 and continue till April 30.

On the reopening of schools for the class 9 and 11 students, School and Mass Education (S&ME) Minister Samir Dash had earlier informed that the resumption of physical classes for Class 9 and 11 students would be done after discussion and consultation.

“The department is holding discussion and consultation to take decision on beginning of Class 9 and 11. The special relief commissioner (SRC) in its notification today has stated that the government can take appropriate decision on the reopening of classes for students from Class 1 to 8.

However, we will not think about the opening of primary classes now. As Class 10 and 12 have already opened from January 8, we are discussing on reopening of Class 9 and 11 at this stage,” the Minister had said.

Earlier, schools were opened for Class X and XII students in Odisha. The reopening of school had evoked enthusiastic response among students who were tired of the long gap and limitations of online education.

Meanwhile, the annual board exam of Class X students will be conducted from May 3-15, while the Council of Higher Secondary Education will hold exams for Class XII students from May 15 to June 11.
