Puri: A class-VI student along with his parents sat on a hunger strike in front of the Srimandir in Puri alleging that the school he was studying has denied him promotion to the next class.

As per reports, the boy named Dinabandhu Rajsekhar Pradhan was studying in Blessed Sacrament High School at Puri and had appeared for the annual class-VI examination. Dinabandhu alleged that despite securing passing marks he was barred by the school authorities from taking admission in class-VII.

His parents alleged that, instead of promoting Dinabandhu to the next class, the school authorities also forced their boy to take the Transfer Certificate (TC).

Sources said, Dinabandhu’s parents had requested the Mass Education Minister, the Chief Minister of Odisha and even the Prime Minister to intervene in the matter. Dejected by the indifference of the authorities, they finally decided to stage protest in front of the Jagannath Temple, said sources.

Dinabandhu said to OTV, “The Principal of the school is forcing me to take the TC since last 10 months. I request the authorities to allow my admission into class-VII.”

Dinabandhu’s father, Ramachandra Pradhan said, “After taking my ward in, the school authorities might push him out in the next session. So I want a concrete assurance from the authorities that the future of my boy is secured.”
