Nayagarh: The sarpanch of Laxmiprasad panchayat, Soumya Ranjan Pradhan, has received death threats after the former lodged an FIR against MLA Arun Sahoo. A parcel and three letters were found in front of Pradhan's house on Saturday stating that the village head will have to face dire consequences if he doesn't seek apology and withdraw the police case against the BJD MLA.

As per reports, some miscreants allegedly barged into the house of Pradhan late on Friday night and used abusive language. They also allegedly threw some alcohol bottles, stones at Pradhan's house before leaving three letters and the parcel.

After being informed, police rushed to the spot and inquired of Pradhan's neighbours if they knew about the incident, but they denied.

Meanwhile, police have seized the letters and the parcel. "Our investigation is on, the parcel is yet to be opened... All the miscreants will be nabbed soon," said a police official.

It is pertinent to mention here that during Odisha government's Peoples Empowerment - Enabling Transparency and Accountability of Odisha Initiatives (PEETHA) scheme in Nayagarh on December 20, Pradhan and his supporters were allegedly assaulted by some BJD workers for protesting sheer apathy of local leaders in implementation of developmental projects in the area. Later, the sarpanch lodged an FIR against MLA Sahoo.
