Nuapada: Failure of ambulance services to reach villages of Odisha due to poor road connectivity has become common in the State. In yet another case, a patient was carried on cot at Mahuljharan village under Khariar block in Birighat panchayat of the district on Thursday after an ambulance failed to reach him.

According to sources, one Narasingha Majhi sustained critical injuries after falling off a tree following which some villagers called up an ambulance.

However, the ambulance stopped midway and couldn’t reach the patient due to non-motorable road in the village.

With no options left, the family members along with some villagers carried the patient on a cot for more than 2 km to reach the ambulance.

Later, the patient was carried in the ambulance and admitted to Khariar hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
