"There is internal democracy in the BJP. From mandals to the top level, there is unity in the party and that's the reason why BJP is the largest party in the country," said BJP Odisha-in-charge, Arun Singh.

There will be a grand function tomorrow at the party headquarters to congratulate the new president, added Singh.

Leader of Opposition (LoP) Pradipta Kumar Naik said that under the leadership of Samir  Mohanty, the party will now move forward and definitely defeat the BJD in 2024.

BJP MP Basant Panda said, “I was once bestowed with the same responsibility (Odisha BJP chief) and now Samir Mohanty will take the party forward.”

Of the several challenges ahead, Mohanty will have to ensure ‘no dissent’ in the party. He will also have to chalk out strategies and lead the party from the front in the upcoming civic body polls.

Besides, strengthening the party at the grassroots level and ensuring a tough stance as the main  Opposition against the ruling-BJD in the State are likely to be in Mohanty's focus.
