Bhubaneswar: Members of Western Odisha Yuva Manch today celebrated "Sambalpuri Diwas" in Bhubaneswar.

The members organised a bike rally in the state capital which started from Master Canteen square and continued till DAV Public School at Unit-VIII. During the event, hundreds of students and youths wore Sambalpuri attire and danced to the tunes of Sambalpuri songs.

Sambalpuri Diwas is celebrated on the occasion of late Satyanarayan Bohidar's birth anniversary as a tribute to his contribution to Sambalpuri culture.

Bohidar is considered to be one of the eminent Sambalpuri writers, who played an instrumental role in providing a significant identity to Sambalpuri language.

"On this day I urge everyone to wear Sambalpuri dress and promote the culture not only in Odisha but across the country," a Western Odisha Yuva Manch member said.

Another member Pankajini Meher said, "We are celebrating late Satyanarayan Bohidar's birth anniversary as Sambalpuri Diwas and through our dance and other activities we will show the world how great our culture is."
