Sambalpur University Employee Attempts Suicide During Academy Council Meet

Sambalpur: Shocking circumstances unfolded during academic council meeting at Sambalpur University on Monday when a contractual employee working under the varsity attempted suicide that too in front of the delegation.

According to sources, the contractual employee identified as Dinabandhu Mishra has been admitted to Burla hospital in critical condition.

An eye-witness at the spot said, “Mishra set himself on fire after pouring inflammable substance on his body. The fire was immediately doused with help of fire extinguishers present at the varsity campus but the victim had already sustained major injuries in the blaze all over his body.”

It is not clear as to what prompted Mishra to take such an extreme step, but another employee of the varsity informed that he has been working as a computer assistant for the last several years.
