Cuttack: A minor girl was allegedly gang raped by five persons for over a month at Purusottampur village in Mahanga police limits in the district.

The shocking incident came to light after the elder sister of the survivor lodged a complaint at Mahanga police station with the help of a social worker.

On the basis of the complaint, the police have detained one person for interrogation.

The social worker, Sasmita Das who is the president of International Human Rights Council said, “The 14-year-old girl’s father is no more. The accused used to go to the house of the minor girl frequently and gang raped her in the absence of her mother. They had threatened the minor not to reveal it to anyone.”

“The minor later narrated her ordeal to her elder sister who was on a visit to Hyderabad with her husband. Eventually, her elder sister lodged a complaint with the police,” she added.

Das said one person has been detained in this connection. “I want all to be brought to the task. The minor girl’s mother also to be arrested as the crime was committed with her knowledge,” Das alleged.

The survivor’s elder sister said, “I lodged a complaint at Mahanga police station on April 25. However, initially, no action was taken. Now, a woman cop has initiated action and arrested one person. We want justice and stringent punishment for all the accused persons.”
