Bhubaneswar: Slamming the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre, the ruling-BJD in Odisha today said the BJP has failed to keep its promises on job creation and fooled the youths of the country.

The regional party questioned the promises made by the BJP during the last polls about providing jobs to two crore students annually. Besides, the Modi-government has failed to provide employment to 36 lakh youths of Odisha in last five years despite making promises, the BJD alleged.

“The Modi-government had promised to create two crore jobs per year. But data shows that unemployment rate in 2017-18 was highest in last 45 years,” said Amar Patnaik, BJD spokesperson.

Meanwhile, the BJP stated that the Prime Minister has already presented his statement on job creation clearly during the last session of Lok Sabha. The party also asked Patnaik to check his statements which, the saffron party alleged, were made under the directive of the third floor.

“It would have been better had the BJD spokesperson said the actual thing. PM Modi has given a detailed account of employment generation during the last Lok Sabha session. People know under whose directive Amar Patnaik is saying such things,” said Samir Mohanty, Odisha BJP vice president.
