Ramakanta Biswas

Bhubaneswar: In view of large sale of motor vehicles during Durga Puja, the State Transport Authority (STA) has directed the regional transport offices (RTOs) to help people in allotment of new registrations for two days during the holiday period.

The registration sections of all RTOs will remain open for two days—on October 5 and 7—from 3 PM to 5 PM to allot registration number to the vehicles purchased during Dussehra festival, read a circular issued by the office of the Transport Commissioner-Cum-Chairman, State Transport Authority, Odisha, Cuttack.

The STA has said that dealers should not deliver any new vehicles without registration in violation of Rule 42 of CMV rule 1989. All RTOs have been instructed to check the dealer premises and ensure that no vehicle is delivered without registration.

It may be noted that other services like issuing of driving licences and learner’s licences won't be available during the four-day puja vacation from October 5 to October 8.
