Bhubaneswar: Admissions of students under Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) quota in private schools in Odisha will now get online.

The Odisha government on Friday issued a calendar mentioning the datelines relating to the functioning of the online system of implementation of Section 12-(1) (C) of the Right To Education (RTE) Act, 2009.

In a letter, the School and Mass Education Department has written to the Director, Elementary Education for its implementation.

Here is the schedule:

-School Registration- 20.2.21 to 28.02. 2021

-Student Registration- 1.03.2021 to 15.03.2021

-Document Verification (1st Round)- 16.03.2021 to 26.03.2021

-1st Round Online lottery and school allotment- 30.03.2021

-School admission (1st round)- 3.04.2021 to 12.04.2021

-Student Registration (2nd Round)- 15.04.2021 to 20.04.2021

-Document Verification (2nd Round)-2204.2021 to 24.04.2021

-2nd round online lottery & school allotment- 26.04.2021

-School Admissions (2nd round)- 27.04.2021 to 30.04.2021

Earlier, Odisha School and Mass Education Minister said that the online aims at bringing in transparency in the entire admission process under EWS quota.

It is pertinent to mention here that here that Odisha Abhibhabak Mahasangha has been demanding 25% reservation for students belonging to poor and disadvantaged sections in private English medium schools in the State.

As per the Section 12(1)(c) of the RTE Act, all specified category or private schools must reserve 25% of their seats for children belonging to EWS from the neighbourhood and provide them admission from Class I onwards.
