Jeypore: Following the arrest of the Executive Engineer of National Highways Authority of India's (NHAI) Jeypore division, Harekrushna Panda, Vigilance sleuths have traced property worth Rs 1.4 crore belonging to him.

While Rs 6.18 lakh cash, gold jewellery and a flat worth Rs 30 lakh have been traced, the rest is in the form of bank deposits, informed Vigilance sources.

Earlier, on January 19, the sleuths intercepted Panda while he was on his way to Bhubaneswar. While checking his vehicle, the sleuths had seized Rs 3.89 lakh cash. During an inquiry, he failed to give a satisfactory answer regarding the source of the money following which the executive engineer was arrested by the Vigilance.

Sources further stated that Panda had collected the money as percentage commission (PC) from a realtor.
