RRB JE Exam 2019: Students Allege Irregularities, Demand Reconduct of Exam
Bhubaneswar: Citing irregularities in the examination for junior engineers conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) here on Saturday, candidates demanded immediate action and also re-conduct of the exam.
Within 15 minutes of the start of the exam, the server crashed. There was also repeated electricity cut due to which it became difficult for students to appear the exam properly, rued a railway job aspirant.
“Questions also started leaking in the exam centre and failed to control it. We even appraised the authority of the engineering college here but no action was taken by them,” alleged the aspirant.
Another candidate said that either the RRB or the Bhubaneswar Institute of Industrial Technology (BIIT), Retang (one of the centres for the RRB JE exam in Bhubaneswar) is responsible for the irregularities, said another student adding that ‘the exams should be re-conducted in the very interest of the students’.
“No one is listening to our grievances; we have been standing here since long without food and water. Someone should respond so that we can go to home,” alleged another student.
The Railway JE exam is a computer based test with a duration of 90 minutes. It comprises 100 questions and for every incorrect answer, 1/3rd of marks will be deducted.
The RRB had earlier invited application for JE recruitment earlier on Janaury 2, 2019. The advertisement was released on December 29, 2019. A total of 14,033 vacancies were announced in the advertisement but later the board reduced the number of vacancies to 13,847.
