Cuttack: A driver trapped inside a crushed truck that met an accident near Baranga police station on Sunday afternoon was freed by fire service personnel following several hours of rescue operation.

The mishap occured when a sand loaded truck collided head on with another truck coming from the opposite direction. Both the heavy vehicles turned turtle on a small bridge that acts a connecting link between Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

Following the accident, the fire service personnel rushed to the spot to rescue a driver trapped inside one of the mangled trucks.

The driver and helper of another truck reportedly absconded after the accident.
