Bhubaneswar: Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Pratap Chandra Sarangi on Sunday termed the Union Budget 2021 as revolutionary and historic.

Addressing a presser, Sarangi said the Budget presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is a reflection of the resolution of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.

"At a time when the world economy has crumbled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, India has tried to stand again. The union budget will show a new path," Sarangi said.

“Due to coronavirus pandemic, we all were expecting that the allocation of funds to states will decline this year. But that did not happen as states received adequate funds. Odisha, which received 25,460 crore last year, received 30137 crore amid Covid-19 pandemic, which is Rs 4177 crore more than last year’s grant,” he added.

The Union Minister further said this year’s budget aimed at women empowerment and doubling of farmers income.
