Retired Top Cop Who Polished Shoes To Fight Corruption Reaches Out To Youth

Balasore: Retired Vigilance SP Ujjwal Kumar Bramha who had begun his fight against corruption by polishing shoes free of cost in front of the SP office in Balasore, has now pulled up his socks to reach out to the young masses.

As per reports, Bramha is visiting schools, colleges and different educational institutions urging students to fight against corruption. On International Anti-Corruption Day (December 9), Bramha distributed pamphlets among youths to create awareness on the need to eradicate corruption.

“The entire country is affected by corruption. I am trying to hold public meetings to urge people to acknowledge the fact that corruption is affecting our democracy which is why we need to find out solutions,” said Bramha.

Laxminarayan Nayak, a student of Fakir Mohan University said, “He (Bramha) is working very hard to spread awareness on eradication of corruption at grassroots. All of us should come together to fight corruption.”

Another student Puspalata Murmu said, “It is very good to see such a person leaving behind all his work for anti-corruption mission. He is an inspiration for all of us.”

Bramha who had also worked as the Inspector In Charge (IIC) at police stations in his career has been trying to urge the police officials to discharge their duty sincerely.

Ujjwal has alleged that common man is deprived of justice by the police department and even he went through the same experience. The retired cop had also said that the behaviour of police towards the common man hasn’t changed even after the implementation of the 5T model of governance in the State.
