Balasore: It’s hard to believe, but a retired Superintendent of Police in Balasore is polishing shoes in front of the SP office in Balasore. Not to earn a livelihood but to protest against the degrading ethics of the Police department.

By polishing shoes free of cost, retired Vigilance SP Ujjwal Kumar Bramha who had worked as the Inspector In Charge (IIC) of many police stations in his career is trying to urge the police officials to discharge their duty sincerely.

Ujjwal alleged that common man is deprived of justice by the police department and even he went through the same experience. The reitred cop alleged that the behaviour of police towards the common man hasn’t changed even after the implementation of the 5T model of governance in the State.

“Our police policy is itself a corrupt system. The cops have been neglecting their duty and don't even reach police station on time,” said Ujjwal.

This noble way of protest has drawn support from every quarters of the city.

Birendra Choudhury, a local resident said, “I fully support Ujjwal’s demand. If being a retired police official, he doesn’t get justice, then we can easily comprehend the plight of the common man.”
