Republic Day: 13 Policemen From Odisha To Receive PPM, Police Medals

Bhubaneswar: 13 police personnel from Odisha will be conferred with Republic Day Police Medals as per the list released by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday.

Two officials, Radha Kishan Sharma, Director Intelligence, Intelligence Directorate. SIW Bhubaneswar and Budhi Bahadur Thappa, Deputy Subedar, Biju Patnaik State Police Academy, Bhubaneswar will be conferred with the prestigious President’s Police Medal For Distinguished Service.

Congratulations to RK Sharma on being conferred with President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service .This is recognition by Govt of India of his dedication , sincerity and leadership.

A total of 946 personnel have been selected for Police Medals on the Republic Day, with an ASI from CRPF and another from Jharkhand Police getting the President's Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) posthumously. Jharkhand Police's Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Banua Oraon and Central Reserve Police Force's (CRPF) ASI Mohan Lal have been selected for the PPMG posthumously.

President Ram Nath Kovind has approved the conferment of these awards on the occasion of 72nd Republic Day on Tuesday.

Similarly, 11 police personnel from Odisha have been chosen for Police Medal For Meritorious Service. The awardees include:

6. Manoranjan Satpathy, Assistant Sub-Inspector, Vigilance Directorate

7. Saroj Bhoi, Crime Havildar, Sundergarh

8. Seikh Nassiruddin, Driver Havildar, Vigilance Directorate

9. Gautam Patra, Constable, Sunabeda, Koraput

10. Hemant Bahadur Khatry Chhetry, Subedar OSAP Second Battalion, Jharsuguda

11. Budda Tamang, Deputy Commandant, SOG Bhubaneswar

President's Medal to Fire Service, Home Guards and Civil Defence personnel 

A total of 73 personnel have been awarded Fire Service Medals. Out of these, President’s Fire Service Medal for Gallantry is awarded to 8 personnel and Fire Service Medal for Gallantry is awarded to 2 personnel for their respective acts of valour and gallantry, an official release said.

President’s Fire Service Medal for Distinguished Service is awarded to 13 personnel and Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service is awarded to 50 personnel for their respective distinguished and meritorious records of services.

In addition, 54 personnel are also awarded Home Guard & Civil Defence Medals on the occasion of the Republic Day, 2021. Of these, President’s Home Guards and Civil Defence Medal for Gallantry is awarded to 3 personnel.  President’s Home Guards and Civil Defence Medal for Distinguished Service and Home Guards and Civil Defence Medal for Meritorious Service are awarded to 04 personnel and 47 personnel respectively.
