Bhubaneswar: Renowned lyricist Rasaraj Narayan Prasad Singh passed away at his residence at VSS Nagar in Bhubaneswar today. He was 86.

Many eminent personalities from the Odia film industry paid tributes to Singh at his residence following his demise.

“I was associated with Singh for last the 50 years. He was like an elder brother who put his best efforts to guide us in lyricism,” Brindaban Jena, a relative of Singh.

Born on May 28, 1933, Singh penned songs for over 100 movies and radio programmes for which he earned many accolades.

Some of his most popular songs include 'Udi Udi Udi Jaare Udi' from Odia movie 'Kie-Kahara' (1968), 'Ratha Ja Chali Ja Chaka' from 'Nuabou' (1962) and 'Sanja Sakale Tuma Chabi Khoje' from ‘Stree’ (1968).
