Jajpur: Intensifying probe into the mysterious death of Rama Devi (RD) University student Jharaphula Nayak, Jajpur police on Tuesday took accused Rakesh on a three-day remand for further questioning in the case.

According to sources, the police have taken Rakesh to Kuakhia police station today where he is being interrogated by Jajpur Sub Divisional Police Office (SDPO) and Inspector In Charge (IIC) of the Kuakhia PS.

Sources also point out that police might take Rakesh to Bhubaneswar and question about others' involvement in the crime.

On Sunday, Ramakant Nayak, father of the deceased girl opened up on the case while saying that he knew about Jharaphula's relationship with the accused Rakesh.

“My son asked me to relocate Jharaphula after he came to know about her relationship with one Rakesh who is working in lift irrigation pipeline project. Following this, I asked her to live with me,” Nayak had said.

Earlier on Saturday, Jajpur police raided a guesthouse in Bhubaneswar. A special squad of police along with a scientific team examined a room of Shiv Sai Guest House in Dharma Vihar area where the girl Jharaphula had stayed along with Rakesh Swain on the night of January 26, a day before she was found dead.
