Jharaphula, who hailed from Marundeipasi village under Jashipur police limits in Mayurbhanj district had gone to Bhubaneswar on January 24 and attended classes the next day. On January 27, her body was found dumped on the roadside. Police had recovered her body and launched an investigation.
During the probe, police got vital clues after examining the CCTV footage that captured the scene of two youths carrying the body in a scooter. The investigating team also examined the Call Details Record (CDR) of the deceased.
Basing on the allegations of the father of the deceased that her daughter was murdered and he suspected involvement of a youth named Rakesh Swain who was in a relationship with her daughter, the investigating team had further strengthened the probe.
