Bhubaneswar: The State's Rural Development department will come under the purview of 'Mo Sarkar' from February 2020, RD department secretary Pradeep kumar Jena informed Wednesday.

As per Jena, as many as 4300 villages lack road connectivity in Odisha and after the inclusion of the department in Mo Sarkar, many new roads will be built while several others will be redesigned.

Speaking to media on the challenges for the department in 2020, Jena said, "Our main focus will be to revise the district road network plan that was envisaged way back in 2003. The purpose of the revision is to connect all the habitations with population of more than a hundred with road."

"Some of the small villages and habitations were left out in the last survey by the department. We will try to rectify that now and make a comprehensive survey with the help of Panchayati Raj Department, SC & ST Department, Water Resources Department and Works Department," said Jena.

"The second focus area of our department will be to build inter-block, inter-district and inter-state road connectivity," added Jena.
