Rayagada Resident Develops Ploughing Machine Using Old Parts Of Scooter

Rayagada: Someone has rightly said "necessity is the mother of all inventions" and it has been proven by Uday Sabar of Gudiabandha village under Padmapur block of Rayagada district.

Sabar, who has studied only till Class 4 has invented a power tiller-like machine by making the best use of several old and unused things including oil tank, motor and handle of a scooter.

He says that he has spent around Rs 7000 to invent the machine which is being used for ploughing farmland. The machine needs only half litre of petrol to plough half an acre of land.

“I made this machine with my own idea by using several parts of old scooters with an aim to help the farmers. One can plough half an acre of land with only half-a-litre of petrol,” said Sabar, who runs a garage to earn livelihood.

Locals feel the machine is a great support for the farmers at a time when petrol and diesel prices are soaring high.

“He has created the machine with his own idea. This will be a great help for the farmers who have neither bullocks nor money to hire a tractor to plough their farmlands. Usually the tractor owner charges Rs 1000 to plough one acre of land where as by using this machine we can plough one acre of land at just Rs 100,” said Ladi Someshwar Rao, a local farmer.

Assistant Agriculture Officer of Padmapur block, Deepak Kumar Das, has appreciated Sabar’s innovative idea and assured to recommend his name for State government award.

“It is a matter of great pride that an ordinary man who has studied only up to class 4 has invented such a machine for the farmers. I congratulate him for his unique and innovative idea. We will recommend his name for the Mukhyamantri Abhinav Krishi Yantrapati Samman,” Das informed.
