Cuttack: Stray and unwanted animals on the streets of Cuttack have found a friend in Abhipsa Mishra, a student of the premier Ravenshaw University. For the injured stray animals, Mishra is no less than a saviour as she dedicatedly works to provide treatment and takes care of them.

Mishra was in class V when she was deeply hurt to see an injured animal lying on the street. Since then, she was been working tirelessly to ensure that the stray animals do not die on streets. Moreover, she uses her pocket money and little help from friends and family members to treat the animals.

A resident of Labour Colony in Badambadi, Mishra has won the hearts of the people of the millennium city through her small initiative which certainly goes a long way in protecting the lives of the stray animals.

"I was inspired by my mother and uncle to do something for the stray animals. I believe such small steps can do wonders," said Abhipsa Mishra adding that she wants to set up a vet clinic for the animals.

Abhipsa has adopted and provided shelter to six stray dogs and four cats. Inspired by her mother and uncle, Abhipsa wants to continue working for the welfare of stray and unwanted animals.

"Since my childhood, I was also trying to work for animals. My daughter was inspired and she is now working for the stray animals," said Manasi Mishra, Abhipsa's mother.
