Bhubaneswar: People in several parts of Odisha will get some respite as rainfall is likely to abate in the next three days.
As per the latest forecast of the Regional Meteorological Department in Bhubaneswar, the low pressure over Bay of Bengal has now weakened. As a result, the intensity of rainfall in the state is expected to drop, met office sources said.
However, some areas will still experience moderate rainfall with the possibility of thunderstorm and lightning in isolated pockets in the next 24 hours.
“Due to the cyclonic circulation over north interior Odisha, the rainfall activity will be light to moderate in the next 24 to 48 hours,” said Director of Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, HR Biswas.
Biswas further informed that rainfall activity is likely to increase from August 31.
Districts including Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore will experience heavy rainfall while rainfall activity will also increase in southern parts of Odisha from September 1, he added.
