Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Bhubaneswar Centre on Wednesday issued Yellow Warning of thunderstorm and lightning for nine districts of Odisha.

As per the evening bulletin issued by the Met Centre, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Gajapati district in the next 24 hours.

Besides, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur.

Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjar and Mayurbhanj.

In view of the warning of the weather office, the Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has issued advisory to the concerned district collectors.

“Situation may be closely monitored and action should be taken as deemed necessary in case of any eventuality. Steps be taken to circulate the warning message among the public,” stated the advisory.
