Bhubaneswar: With the chilly weather and foggy conditions starting to normalise in most parts of Odisha, the Regional Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday forecast light to moderate rainfall and thundershower in several districts of the State from tomorrow (February 16).

On Tuesday, light to moderate showers is predicted at one or two places over the districts of Sambalpur, Nuapada, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh and dry weather will prevail over rest of the districts.

Briefing on the latest weather forecast, MeT official Umasankar Das said, "The prevailing weather condition is likely to change from February 16, as there is a likelihood of light to moderate rainfall in some areas of western Odisha districts like Nuapada, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda and Deogarh."

"Similarly on the 17th, there is a forecast of light to moderate rainfall in the interior and coastal districts of Odisha. A yellow warning has been issued for some districts in view of lightning and thunderstorm forecast during the day. The districts on alert include Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Boudh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Angul and Dhenkanal. Similar weather conditions will be seen in some districts in the next day," informed Das.

YELLOW WARNING: As per the forecast, light to moderate rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of south interior Odisha, Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Balasore, Bhadrak. Districts like Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Angul and Dhenkanal will witness thunderstorm with lightning, MeT predicts.

The night temperature or minimum temperature is unlikely to change during the next few days, the official added.
