Speaking on the occasion, Dharmendra Pradhan said that earlier, a section till Bolgarh station was inaugurated prior to Nabakalebar festival.

“Rs 150 crore has been spent on the 12km line from Nayagarh town till Mahipur. We have asked railway officials to ensure that the project is extended till Daspalla by March 2022 and Bolangir by December 2023,” said Pradhan.

Pradhan further urged Odisha government to speed up process of land acquisition, forest and environment clearances for the project so that subsequent works can be taken up by the Centre.

“Khurda-Bolangir railway line can play a crucial role in formation of New Odisha. People can cover a distance of 300 km from Bhubaneswar to Bolangir in the superfast train in 3 hours," said Pradhan.

Odisha minister Arun Sahoo said, “Centre has extended its support to provide rail connectivity to the areas which were earlier deprived. Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik too had assured Centre of providing necessary support in execution of railway projects in the State.
