Jharsuguda: A railway staff in Jharsuguda district was arrested on Tuesday for his complicity in the circulation of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN). The accused, identified as Raman Kumar Rajak, is posted as a clerk at the Brajrajnagar railway station.

Jharsuguda SP Bikash Chandra Das informed that counterfeit notes with a face-value of Rs 57,000 has been seized from his possession. A total of 114 fake notes in denomination of Rs 500 have been seized from a bag kept at Rajak’s house, he added.

According to Das, the accused had taken some loan from a bank and was struggling to repay the amount. With a motive to make some quick money, the accused allegedly used to procure such fake notes with the help of one of his relatives who lives in Bilaspur.

The accused Railway employee has been booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections-489 (a), 489 (b) and 489 (c). He was produced before the court today and further investigation in this connection is underway, Das added.
