Cuttack: Putting an end to the long wait over the contentious issue of reduction of fees by private schools due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation, as demanded by parents’ bodies across the State, the Orissa High Court on Thursday made it clear that the reductions would be made as per the recommendations of a high power committee that had been constituted for the purpose.
The committee had been formed by the High Court to resolve the issue after the State government sought not to interfere in the administrative decisions of private schools by maintaining that they were beyond the purview of government control.

Deciding a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by the parents’ body, the court however, paved way for objection to the fee slab decided by the high power committee, stating it can further be challenged through a writ petition, if warranted.
