Puri: After spending a night with millions of devotees on Puri Badadanda (Grand Road), Lord Jagannath began on his journey to Gundicha temple on Sunday.

Excitement was written large on the faces of devotees as they got a chance to pull the chariot of Lord Jagannath, the 'Nandighosa' on the Badadanda today a day after it had halted within a short distance of Gundicha temple on the occasion of Rath Yatra yesterday.

The chariot of Lord Jagannath had halted barely 20 meters away from the peetha of one of his greatest devotee, Bhakta Salabega yesterday.

Several rituals including Mangala alati and Abakash of the Lord were performed on the chariot of Nandighosa by servitors since early morning.

"Despite heavy rain, devotees continued to have darshan of the Lord throughout the night yesterday. As Jagannath is the deity of the devotees, it was a great feeling to have a darshan in the morning today," said Kishore Samal, a devotee.
