Puri: The Puri district administration has so far rehabilitated more than 400 beggers under the Niladri Nilaya Yojana which was launched by the Odisha government to make the pilgrim city beggar-free.

As many as eight shelter homes have been set up under the scheme at different parts of the district.
Under the supervision of the district social welfare officer (DSWO), beggers are being identified and rehabilitated to the different shelter homes.

As per reports, each shelter home has the capacity to accommodate 50 people. After rehabilitation, efforts are being made to bring the beggars to the mainstream.
