Puri district police have deployed 15 platoons of police force to beef up the security in the ancient town. An additional SP, seven DSPs, 50 officers have also been put on duty for the smooth observance of the holy day.

As the entry of devotees will not be allowed due to the pandemic curbs, Superintendent of Police Kanwar Vishal Singh has urged the public to have darshan of the Patitapabana in a disciplined manner while ensuring adherence to all Covid guidelines.

The district administration has requested people to celebrate the occasion while staying at home as all the water bodies including the sea beach, Pancha Tirtha pond will come under restricted zones.

Adequate police will be deployed to debar people from venturing out into such sites which generally witness huge gatherings for sailing boats in the honour of ancestors, mass bathing and shraddha rituals.

The authorities have also enforced certain restrictions on the movement of vehicles to smoothen the traffic during the peak rush hours.
