Puri Collector recommends stringent action over EVM vandalisation

Puri: Shortly after the incidents of EVM and VVPAT damages at Satyabadi and Brahmagiri Assembly constituency during the third phase polls on Tuesday, Puri Collector Jyotiprakash Das said that the State CEO has been recommended for stringent action against the miscreants responsible for the incidents.

As per reports, some miscreants vandalized an EVM at booth no – 222 in Kamasasan village under Brahmagiri Assembly constituency and two EVMs at Birakishorepur booth in Satyabadi area of the district, while the polling was underway yesterday.

Later, the Presiding Officers (PO) of the respective booths filed police complaints regarding the incidents.

"We have received complaint that miscreants have vandalized the EVMs at booth no- 222 in Brahmagiri and 78 in Satyabadi. The CEO has been apprised about the incidents in prescribed format as per annexure 45 to the Election Commission. Future course of action will be taken as per the decision of EC," said Jyoti Prakash Das.
