Public Movement On Old Kuakhai Bridge Restricted For Repair Works

Bhubaneswar: Vehicular movement on the old bridge over Kuakhai River on NH-16 connecting Cuttack-Bhubaneswar has been restricted to facilitate repair work.

The Commissionerate Police has informed commuters that the repair work will begin from today and will continue till May 2. During the period of two months, public and vehicular movements will not be allowed, police stated through a notification. Commuters will use the middle bridge instead of the old one, police said.

"In order to facilitate the repair works for the benefit of the commuters, there is a need for the diversion of the vehicles for smooth flow of traffic at aforesaid bridge on NH16 and approach roads for safety and security of commuters as per the feasibility report submitted by ACP (Traffic)," the notification issued by the police stated.

Vehicles coming towards Cuttack have to divert to the middle bridge over the river for communication, it stated.
