Public demands justice to family of missing youth

Rayagada: The ‘Rayagada Yuva Adivasi Samaj’ on Saturday took out a massive rally in the town demanding justice for the family members of a youth who has been missing since last 15 years.

Hundreds of members of the outfit took out a rally and staged a demonstration demanding the district administration to take necessary steps to stop harassment on dalit and tribal people.

According to family members of the youth, an official of a private company in Tikiri area had taken him to provide a job in Bhubaneswar 15 years ago. The youth identified as Surendra Nayak of Kasipur block under Tikiri police limits of the district had been missing since then.

After being unable to trace him, the family members of the youth lodged a complaint at the Tikiri police station and later also reported the matter to the district collector.

However, they alleged that despite repeated pleas, the administration has been unable to trace the youth and neither taken stringent action against the accused company official.
