Bhubaneswar: Protests intensified against ruling-BJD MLA Arun Sahoo today for allegedly making a student leader to do 50 sit-ups.

Political parties across the state staged protests against the legislator demanding his apology for such behaviour.

It is alleged that Sahoo humiliated North Orissa University’s Student Union President, Tushar Nayak who had gone to meet him with various problems faced at the university. However, the legislator allegedly misbehaved and asked the student leader to do 50 sit-ups.

The youth wing of the BJP today burned the effigy of Sahoo and sought his apology.

"We will not let Arun Sahoo to enter Mayurbhanj district till he tenders an apology and in case he fails, he will be welcomed with black flags and eggs," said president of the party's Mayurbhanj district yuva morcha, Kumar Mangalam.

Similarly, ABVP members on Wednesday staged protest in front of Utkal University gate in Bhubaneswar demanding an apology from the BJD MLA.

Moreover, the youth wing of Congress today threatened to call for an indefinite Mayurbhanj bandh if Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik doesn't remove Sahoo from the post of district in-charge within seven days.

On the other hand, president of the BJD's youth wing, Rana Pratap Patra said that no BJD leaders ever humiliated or even behaved rudely with student leaders and the allegations brought against Sahoo are false and baseless.
