Paradip: The protest at Essar Steel India Limited in Paradip entered its second day today and neither the local administration nor the company management has taken any step to resolve the issue.

Surprisingly, the protestors began their agitation on Wednesday evening even though Section 144 has been clamped in front of the company gate.

"We handed over our lands to Essar Steel at cheap prices. Whatever money we had got from the sale, we bought Hyva trucks and engaged the vehicles in the company work. However, the company is now trying to engage vehicles from outside. It will have an adverse effect on our livelihood,” lamented Ratnakar Jena, a protestor.

Jena also requested the concerned officials of the company to look into the matter and resolve it soon.

Meanwhile, the company officials couldn't be contacted for comments.
