Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday launched Online Property Tax Module to facilitate payment of property tax digitally with an aim to bring greater transparency and efficiency to urban administration.

The CM also launched the Municipal Premier League to encourage ULBs to enhance their own revenue collections. Launching these twin programmes of Housing & Urban Development Department at Convention Centre of Lok Seva Bhawan, Patnaik said, “It has been the endeavour of my Government to deliver all the public services at the doorsteps of people using technology. Online Property Tax Module launched today facilitating Payment Anytime Anywhere is a very good initiative started by the Housing & Urban Development Department. I am sure people residing in urban areas will be immensely benefited.”

The CM said enhancing revenues of cities is very important to encourage higher investments, ensure better amenities and enhance the living conditions of urbanites.

“Citizens often correlate the payment of taxes with delivery of services. Urban Odisha today is transforming itself into Liveable, Sustainable and Inclusive Cities,” the CM further said.

Speaking about the Municipal Premier League, the CM said, “It is a transformative idea that will certainly create a competitive spirit among Urban Local Bodies and pave the way for a better urban life."
