Koraput: A principal of +2 Women’s College in Sunabeda area of the district was arrested on Tuesday on the charges of misbehaving with a female colleague at the institute.

As per the complainant who works as a computer operator, the principal, identified as Pabitra Kumar Bedanta, was allegedly harassing and even trying to touch her inappropriately on multiple occasions inside the college.

The victim in her complaint further alleged that the Principal also had made sexual advances which she had turned down repeated times in the past. Moreover, he was sharing inappropriate messages on her mobile phone, she said.

Basing on an FIR filed by the woman, police today arrested Bedanta under several Sections of the Indian Penal Code and IT Act, 2020.

It is also alleged that the Principal had also threatened the complainant of dire consequences after he failed in his attempts to coerce her into physical relationship. Police said that the accused had also hired three anti-socials who snatched away the mobile phone of the complainant.
