Pregnant woman on cot once again in Odisha

Keonjhar: Exposing the sordid condition of rural healthcare and infrastructure in Odisha, a pregnant woman was carried on a cot in the absence of ambulance services in the remote areas of Keonjhar district on Tuesday.

As per reports, the woman of Chhadadihi village under Banspal block in the district underwent labour pain following which her family members immediately sought medical attention. However, due to lack of motorable road to their village, the ambulance failed to reach her.

With no option left, family members carried the expectant mother on a cot and walked all the way to the ambulance that was waiting a few kilometers away from the village.

Later, after being admitted to the hospital, the woman delivered a baby boy. Hospital sources said condition of the woman and her child is stable.
