Cuttack: BJD MLA Pravat Biswal was discharged today from the SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) here.

Biswal, who was undergoing treatment at the hospital since September 25, was shifted to AIIMS in New Delhi for better treatment.

"Due to infection, pus is still there in my stomach for which I will be going to Delhi for treatment," said ailing Biswal after his discharge.

"I have come home after nine months to see my parents before going to Delhi. I have been receiving well wishes from everyone,” added Biswal.

On his name being selected among the best legislators of Odisha, Biswal stated "I have always worked with dedication and sincerity. I heard the news today and I am happy about it."

Biswal was earlier arrested on September 19, 2017 by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for his alleged involvement in the multi-crore Seashore chit fund scam.

However days after his arrest, he was admitted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar following his illness and later shifted to SCBMCH after his condition deteriorated on September 25, reports said.

Notably, the Orissa High Court on Tuesday granted bail to Biswal against cash security of Rs 20 lakh and two sureties of Rs 5 lakh each.
