Bhubaneswar: Union petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday launched a public invitation programme to invite the people of Odisha to attend IOCL’s refinery dedication programme scheduled to be held in Paradip on February 07.
Prime minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the refinery constructed with an investment of Rs 35,000 crore.
Launching the programme, Pradhan said, “The event is named as public invitation programme and the basic aim is that the Centre wants its popular developmental programmes to reach the people of Odisha. Today’s rally has been organised to spread information about employment opportunities not only at Paradip refinery, but also at other projects of the country.”
“Since Prime Minster Narendra Modi will dedicate the refinery to the nation on February 7, we are inviting everybody to attend the function through this programme,” he said.
"It is neither for political benefit nor a political campaign but it is the responsibility of the Indian government reach out people by informing the various welfare schemes and its experiences, " said State BJP president Basanta Panda.
Speaking on this, BJD spokesperson Amar Sathpathy said If it will be a political campaign like they (BJP) always say ‘it’s not right to blame the Centre for discrimination’ then BJD will counter it politically and it will turn out to be a complete political campaign.
Under the programme, about 30 vehicles will travel to all the districts and disseminate information of government programmes.
Paradip Refinery and Petrochemicals Complex, built with an investment of Rs 34, 555 crores, is the largest investment in a single project in India in recent years. State-of-the-art technologies from across the world have been used at the refinery.
The major products from the refinery will be LPG, ATF, kerosene, diesel, naptha and petrol. The refinery has a unique INDMAX unit of 4.2 MMTPA capacity which will produce higher quantity of LPG with better percentage of propane (used for producing poly-propylene). R&D centre of IOCL has developed this technology indigenously. This refinery will be capable of processing all types of heavy and sour crudes. Being a coastal refinery, it can move products along the coast and export the surplus products.
