Bhubaneswar: Gopalpur MLA and expelled BJD leader Pradeep Panigrahi was sent to a 14-day Judicial Custody on Thursday after his bail plea was rejected by the Bhubaneswar SDJM court. He will be lodged at Jharpada jail.

The Crime Branch had produced him before the court this evening.

As per reports, the counsel appearing for the legislator prayed before the court to ensure safeguard of his health as he is suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes.

Earlier in the evening, he was arrested by a special team by the Crime Branch officials.

The Crime Branch in a statement claimed that Panigrahi was collecting money from various people on behalf of Akash Pathak, son of suspended IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak.

Panigrahi was earlier arrested by the CB on multiple charges - forgery, cheating conspiracy & his links with the DA case of IFS officer Abhay Pathak & his son Akash.
