Bhubaneswar: A day after rejection of his bail plea, Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi moved District and Sessions Judge Court in Bhubaneswar seeking bail on Friday.
He was arrested by Odisha Crime Branch and produced before the SDJM court on Thursday evening. Later in the night, Panigrahi was sent to a 14-day judicial custody after rejection of his bail plea by the court .
He was sent to Jharpada jail last evening following rejection of bail.
As per reports, the counsel appearing for the legislator prayed before the court to ensure safeguard of his health as he is suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes.
The Crime Branch in a statement claimed that Panigrahi was collecting money from various people on behalf of Akash Pathak, son of suspended IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak.
Panigrahi was earlier arrested by the CB on multiple charges – forgery, cheating conspiracy & his links with the DA case of IFS officer Abhay Pathak & his son Akash.
